Investing in Creativity: BAE and SCALE7 on the Future of Creative Investment

From fashion and design to gaming, digital media, advertising, music and content creation, Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) cover a broad range of businesses built around creative ideas, cultural expression and intellectual property. These industries are becoming a more and more important part of the innovation economy, bringing together creativity, culture, technology and entrepreneurship.
Today, the boundaries between the creative industries and technology are becoming increasingly blurred, creating new products, services and business models with international growth potential. The European Commission recognises the important contribution of Cultural and Creative Industries to innovation, competitiveness, prosperity and social cohesion. At the same time, creative businesses can face particular challenges in accessing finance, scaling their activities and building the networks and skills needed for growth. This creates an important role for informed and engaged investors.
Why creative ventures need specialised investors
Investing in creative ventures can require a different perspective from investing in more traditional startups. Value may be created through a combination of intellectual property, technology, content, brands, communities and creative talent. For angel investors, understanding these dynamics is therefore essential. Beyond providing capital, experienced angels can contribute strategic advice, networks, commercial expertise and support with follow-on financing.
At Business Angels Europe (BAE), investor education and ecosystem development have long been at the core of our activities. Through initiatives such as ESIL, ESIL Moldova, and our role as a supporting member of the EIT Culture & Creativity Investment Network, BAE has built extensive experience in training new angel investors, fostering syndication and co-investment practices, strengthening investment communities, and assessing angel and venture capital investors’ attitudes, appetite, and capacity to invest in the cultural and creative sectors.
BAE and SCALE7
Against this backdrop, BAE is pleased to partner with SCALE7, the Creative and Cultural Industries Hub supported by Qatar Development Bank, as Knowledge Partner for the SCALE7 Angel Investors Bootcamp 2026.
SCALE7 is focused on supporting entrepreneurs and startups in Qatar's creative and cultural industries, across areas including advertising, design and crafts, fashion technology, gaming, language technology and literature. The partnership brings together SCALE7's sector focus with BAE's expertise in angel investor education and ecosystem development. BAE brings a unique combination of sector relevance, training expertise and investor network reach to the programme.
A three-stage journey for new angel investors
The SCALE7 Angel Investors Bootcamp 2026 is designed as a progressive three-stage learning journey.
The first masterclass, “Why Invest in Creative and Cultural Industries?”, introduces participants to angel investing fundamentals while exploring the specific dynamics of the CCI ecosystem.
The second, “How to Evaluate Creative Ventures,” focuses on venture evaluation, valuation, due diligence and negotiation.
The final masterclass, “Beyond the Investment,” explores how investors can create value after the deal through portfolio management, founder support, follow-on financing, syndication and exit planning.
Together, the three sessions provide participants with the knowledge and practical tools to understand, evaluate and support creative ventures throughout the investment journey.
Investing in the creative economy
For BAE, supporting the development of the creative investment ecosystem means helping create stronger connections between ambitious entrepreneurs and investors who understand their potential. Through our partnership with SCALE7, we are proud to contribute our experience, knowledge and international investor network to the development of a new generation of angel investors in Qatar and the wider region.
The SCALE7 Angel Investors Bootcamp 2026 takes place online on 5, 6 and 7 October 2026.
