Supported by the Early Stage Invester Launchpad (funded by the European Commission), Business Angels Europe and some 30 investors (some of them pictured above) visited two different but inspiring hotspots for Angel investing.
On Thursday September 12, BAN Nederland took us to the Philips Healthworks and HighTech XL buildings in the High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Amongst others, we learned about Dutch governmental policy schemes on seed funding and syndication, and how Techleap is trying to make the Netherlands the best startup ecosystem in the world. Furthermore, we were pleased to see that the visiting Business Angels took immediate interest in the startups that pitched, and that follow-up talks have been scheduled.
On Friday September 13, BAND took us a full day in the Ruhr in Germany, where we were hosted by the Ruhr Hub and Startport accelerators. It was insightful to learn how 3rd largest Metropolitan area in Europe has been successful in transforming their region from a heavy industry focus to tech and startups. We were particularly keen to listen to the various startup pitches pitches and how Germany rewards Europe’s business angels with their INVEST co-funding schemes.
These Study Trips are core to our goals. Business Angels Europe is trying to create the single European Angel market one step at a time. The connections made during these trips are important milestones in this process. We want to thank all organizers and speakers for their contribution to this wonderful programme!
